tonight i was scolded for having no common sense as i innocently walked my dog along his usual route, which goes past cat-man's house. cat-man is a man who has taken it upon himself to feed every stray cat in the neighbourhood. despite notices that say in plain and simple english Please Do Not Feed The Stray Cats, he carries on his catly activities. thanks to his efforts, the cats never fail to MULTIPLY and so now there is a new litter of kittens. and so this evening he was standing at the junction of paths outside his house, which is where my dog wanted to walk. and being the Pied Piper of Cats, he was surrounded by three or four of them. one of which was standing right in the middle of the path. so my dog and i walk nearer, and my dog starts to look tense and cat-in-the-middle-of-the-path starts to look tense. and while i am holding my dog tight on his leash and waiting for cat-in-the-middle-of-the-path to run away so we can walk through without a fight occurring, cat-man decides to intervene. he looks at me with his cat-like eyes and says "please lah, tell your dog to stop frightening the cats. you have no common sense is it. they have to climb up the trees you know." for a minute everything i am going to type below was going to come out of my mouth. but then i just stared at him and walked away. after all he might just have set his millions of cats on my dog and i and then blamed it on my lack of common sense.

dear cat-man. i have not complained to you or the management about that night when your black cat attacked my dog. but after tonight i may think about it. in breach of the notices you have continued in your cat-feeding ways. in case you couldn't tell from the notices, the general sentiment in the neighbourhood is that stray cats are pests. oh but i have no common sense, so maybe the notices are meant to applaud your valiant efforts to facilitate cat multiplication and any diseases which might come along with it. if you want to say that these cats are not strays, and that they are yours, then maybe you should train them to stop fighting and screaming in the middle of the night. also, maybe you might want to inform them of the fact that they are yours and keep them in your house. also tell them that your exclusive possession of premises only lasts as far as the strata parcel of your walk-up flat. if they choose to sit in the middle of paths they will be exposed to the possibility of being barked at by dogs who belong to owners who lack the common sense to tell their dogs to stop frightening the cats. if they do not wish to be so frightened it would be prudent to remain indoors. these stray cats are not vaccinated and are therefore probably more dangerous to my dog than my dog is to them. if you will not keep track of the cats' activities and ensure the safety of the neighbourhood for other animals and humans, i am afraid they will have to carry on climbing trees to escape the incidences of their feline existence.

i am really very tempted to write to the management about this.
