this past week has really been a stark contrast to the past three months. i am not used to sitting still for two hours at a stretch, and all the concentrating just saps my energy. plus there are readings to do, and homework, just that they don't call it by that name any more. if i look back to last sem, it seems that nothing's really changed. it's still hanging out at The Summit, piling our bags and whatnot on the tables and chairs and then standing around because there's nowhere left to sit. it's still sitting in the back rows of the LT and everyone's surfing food or shopping websites, or playing games. we're still the same people, we still do the same things. but we can all feel it, underneath our feet. the sand's shifting and we're sliding. if i stand alone i go down alone. if we stand together we go down together. what's the difference, it's still going down. but maybe down isn't such a bad place after all. maybe down is a place where we can learn to get up. and it's easier to get up when you have others to hold on to. posted by gruff at 9:31 AM --------------------------------------------------------------------------
